Partners go to business school
Article Abstract:
Baker and McKenzie's managers are offering their partners the chance to attend business school to better prepare them for the task of harmonizing lawyers located around the world into an efficient legal team. The law firm has spent the last 5 years working with Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management to custom-design a short introduction to the basics of business. Progran creators decided early on that Baker lawyers should be trained to think more like their business clients.

Talking to your clients brings in new business
Article Abstract:
Schiff Hardin and Waite had a consultant do a series of client interviews and was alerted ahead of the competition to new and anticipated work, learned of practice areas in which expansion would probably be profitable, gleaned increased cross-selling opportunities, and was prodded to improve service on existing matters. The firm decided that clients would be more frank with an independent third party.
