Good company; corporate counsel can influence ABA policies - as members
Article Abstract:
The ABA Section of Business Law is a way for corporate counsel to become involved in areas of concern outside their own practice, and a topical undercurrent at the 1999 conference was the desire that the association change its tort reform position. The ABA is against broad federal pre-emption of tort law, although it supports certain state tort law changes in areas such as punitive damages, joint and several liability and jury verdicts.

'Equality with a vengeance;' violent crimes and gang activity by girls skyrocket
Article Abstract:
The increase in violent crimes by women is small enough that it may just reflect an increasingly violent society, but from 1981 to 1997 violent crime by girls increased 107%, compared to a 27% increase for boys. Reasons incarceration rates for women have also increased greatly are discussed.
