Taming the gift tax return
Article Abstract:
BNA Software's BNA 709 Preparer for Windows gift tax software simplifies form 709 preparation. BNA 709 Preparer's recalculation feature and its ability to override calculations for user adjustments are two of its most valuable assets. 709 Preparer is available in both single-user and network configurations for $295 and $395, respectively. The program automates both return and requisite schedule preparation and it processes applications for time extensions on forms 2688 and 4868. Users are able to maneuver quickly through returns and schedules via the Tab button and customized forms such as continuation schedules and blank attachments provide comprehensive disclosures, elections and calculations. BNA 709 Preparer's diagnostic messages form is especially helpful and it provides users with pending and conflicting item reminders on both returns and schedules. The program also offers a nudge feature to signal when a comparable gift return must be prepared for spouses who are dividing gifts.
