Bullish on spinoffs; entrenpreneurial lawyers remain undaunted by potential ethical pitfalls
Article Abstract:
Law firms with nonlegal business units present possible ethical violations such as conflict of interest, but this has not deterred entrepreneurial lawyers setting up such firms. Subsidiaries include consulting firms providing training in areas such as lawsuit-prevention and managing real estate ventures to corporations. Some were founded to provide firm clients with a broader range of services, but others seem to be focused on creating new revenue streams.
