Tort reform: camel's nose into state law
Article Abstract:
The House Republicans' Common Sense Product Liability and Legal Reform Act would give the federal government jurisdiction over ground it has never tread before, undermining the states' rights claims of the GOP. The tort reform bill would limit punitive damages, and change statutes of repose, sellers liability, joint and several liability and non-economic medical malpractice damages. The law would preempt any state laws addressing the same issues.
