Trust accounting for lawyers
Article Abstract:
Fountain Software's $199 Fountain Trust Accounting 4.0a allows users to successfully manage trust accounts without having to learn a full-featured accounting package to do so. The DOS program is designed to handle only trust accounts. Each trust client is assigned a 'card,' in which account information is entered. The card is then linked to a trust account, and the software allows users to track multiple accounts at the same time. Fountain Trust records deposits individually or in batches, and the program can create checks and reconcile the account at the close of each month. The program's Suspense feature is unique, because it can determine when deposits are in the account but may not yet be transferred, as is the case when a deposit has not yet cleared the bank. The software supports passwords so that data may be protected from unauthorized users, and all data may be transferred to hard copy. Fountain Trust does not integrate well with other accounting packages.
