Y2K problem helps law firms rethink practice areas
Article Abstract:
The Y2K problem is multidisciplinary and forcing law firms to form Y2K teams combining many different practice areas, and strategic business unit (SBU) is the name for these cross-practice-area teams. SBU's are client-specific and have the unintended benefit for law firms of forcing them to cross-sell more often and more efficiently. Law firms will be forced to evaluate new methods of serving clients, such as SBUs, as the market for legal services becomes more client-driven.
