BBC 2 takes on Belfast drama Rap at the Door

BBC Northern Ireland is commissioned by BBC 2 controller Mark Thompson to produce a single drama program titled Rap at the Door. Rap at the Door, which will be produced by Tony Rowe and directed by Mark Brozel, will consist of three monologues lasting 20 minutes each. The broadcast of the drama is scheduled on or before Christmas 1998 either in three parts or as a one 60-minute show. The drama, which will be filmed in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and will be written by a local writer, is about the lives of three siblings, whose mother vanished before after answering the door 15 years hence.

Media Trust plans charity channel
Article Abstract:
Media Trust has announced plans to introduce a new community-based television channel. The Community Channel will be launched in the summer of 1999 with coverage 4 hours a day on all three digital platforms. The plan for the Community Channel is to showcase the many voluntary organizations in the UK with a mixture of voluntary sector footage and newly commissioned material. The executives of the new Community Channel expect it to be completely self-financing by the year 2002.
