BBC Production brings in new talent

BBC Production has appointed two new executive producers, Emma Westcott and Alan Brown, to complete its senior management team. Brown will be assigned to handle BBC 1 commission titled England Football Family Trees, which is scheduled to broadcast by 1999. Westcott was given a promotion to a higher position as executive producer to handle lifestyle outputs and new channels. Meanwhile, BBC Production features and events department of London, UK, has appointed Seetha Kumar to executive produce Crimewatch shows and become the special assistant to Anne Morrison, head of the department.

Production cuts 35 BBC Brum jobs

BBC Productions is eliminating about 35 employees at its network production department in Birmingham, UK, due to failure to maintain contracts including Telly Addicts and The Clothes Show. The job cuts, which is equivalent to 15% of its total workforce at the Birmingham department, will include positions as directors, broadcast assistants and assistant producers. Reportedly, The Clothes Show's format has been changed to occasional specials while the firm's production commissions for Telly Addicts and The Really Useful Show has been ceased.
