BBC slashes OUPC jobs by 40 per cent
Article Abstract:
BBC Production is eliminating 40% or 61 positions, which are part of its core program production team, at its Open University Production Centre (OUPC) in the next four years. BBC, which plans to relocate those who will not be given new positions to other positions, is currently negotiating with Bectu, the broadcasting union, regarding its job cuts and removal of redundant positions. BBC is reportedly reorganizing OU's commissioning process as BBC separates its broadcasting and production operations. BBC Production plans to absorb OUPC while BBC Broadcast will be subcontracted for OU's TV output.
