BBC to relaunch news after radical shake-up
Article Abstract:
BBC News will undertake an extensive 18-month program strategy review in anticipation of intensified competition in the era of digital television. Under the stewardship of BBC News CEO Tony Hall, the GBP200,000 initiative will encompass the relaunch of the Breakfast News, the Six O'Clock News, and the Newsnight programs, and seek to configure news shows to conform to particular channels, as very distinct editorial styles will be adopted in the main news shows. Among the primarily modifications are a 50/50 mix of domestic and international news reporting in the Nine O'Clock News; more focus on regional affairs in the Six O'Clock News; and an 11PM news and sport bulletin within Newsnight.
