Barraclough Carey to merge with Mentorn
Article Abstract:
Mentorn Barraclough Carey will be a new company formed from the merger of UK independent production companies Mentorn Films and Barraclough Carey Productions. The move will benefit both companies, allowing them to invest extensively in development. Mentorn has gained a strong reputation as a producer of children's and entertainment programmes, while Barraclough has been responsible for a number of high-profile documentaries. Some observers have interpreted the move as marking the beginning of consolidation in the independent production sector.

TV on the North-west frontier

This output declined to 584 hours in 1995 to 697 hours in 1994, but is expected to rise to 600 hours in 1996. Also increasing its programming hours is the youth and entertainment (YEF) unit of BBC North to 366 hours in 1996 from 339 hours in 1994-1995, a figure which is far above the output of the sports and religious divisions of BBC North.
