Broadcasting key to United's profit

Financial services, television and publishing concern United News and Media saw operating profit of 151.9 million pounds sterling in the first half of 1996. There was particularly strong growth at United Broadcasting and Entertainment, the group's broadcasting and programme production division. This division, which saw operating profit rise by 75% in the period, now represents 19% of total operating profit. The group has stated that it will continue to expand its television interests.

Rapid march: best known for its youth programming, Rapido TV has also produced episodes for the Without Walls arts strand, has jut won an ITV commission and is developing an arts series for Channel 4
Article Abstract:
Rapido TV and independent company, is developing an arts series for Channel 4. It has already contributed to the Without Walls arts programme and its Eurotrash programme was nominated at the Indies awards. It will provide a schools commission and a French language tuition series, with the arts series to follow.
