Clark and Vertue vie for Pact chair
Article Abstract:
Pact, an alliance of producers, has received bids for the group's chairmanship from Clark managing director Bernard Clark and Hartswood Films chairman Beryl Vertue. If elected as chairman, Clark stated that he would remedy the lack of balance between broadcasters and producers, while Vertue noted that she would champion independents as channels multiply in the digital era. The two bids, an unprecedented event for the chairmanship, will be considered in the election and ballot forms will be given to Pact members at the end of September 1998. The Electoral Reform Society is overseeing the election, with the winner to be declared on Dec. 9, 1998.
