Darling mutineer
Article Abstract:
John Fairley resigned from his post as Managing Director of Yorkshire Television in April 1995 to become Chief Executive of Channel 5 for UKTV. UKTV was the highest bidder for the new channel franchise by 14 million pounds sterling with its bid of 36.6 million pounds sterling. Fairley joined the company after the bid deadline. He has a solid reputation for bringing hard-edged factual progammes and high-budget dramas to the network.
