Emap restructures its senior management
Article Abstract:
Emap is imposing management restructuring to support the consolidation of its consumer media. Under the plan, led by new CEO Kevin Hand, the integrated media department will be coordinated by Tom Moloney, currently the chief executive of the company's consumer magazine division. The decision to merge the operations was made since the divisions share similarity in audience profiles and also to bring more concentration on strategic opportunities in markets in the UK and abroad. The consumer media division is also expected to deal with Emap's upcoming TV operation that includes cable music channel The Box to pave the way for digital platforms.

Article Abstract:
Chrysalis Radio has received the new Independent Local Radio north-east regional license from the Radio Authority, removing worries that key licenses might be given to smaller players that may result in rapid change of ownership. With its Galaxy format, the company triumphed over 13 other competitors that include Emap Radio, Capital Radio and Golden Rose. Chrysalis intends to bring another Galaxy station by late spring or early summer 1999, with new offices set to be opened in Tyne and Wear and Teesside, creating 50 new jobs.
