ITC alerted to DTT test interference
Article Abstract:
Telewest and Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) have called the attention of the Independent Television Commission (ITC) to help them solve interference problems that their subscribers have been experiencing from digital terrestrial television (DTT) test signals. A spokesperson of Telewest said the company already sent a formal notice to the ITC, asking the agency to to help the company resolve the problem with DTT operators. CWC, on the other hand, made an unofficial approach to ITC. The interference from DTT test signals affect only those cable subscribers that continue to use their terrestrial aerial in recording programs.

Channel One closures threaten 80 job losses
Article Abstract:
Channel One's decision to shut down its newsgathering and production operations in London, UK, and Bristol, UK, is expected to result in the elimination of about 80 jobs. The closure, which will take place on Sept. 25, 1998 at 6 pm, has been brought about by the lack of cable subscriptions. Daily Mail & General Trust (DMGT), the parent company of Channel One, is expected to offer employees who will lose their jobs with terms, believed to include payment that is equivalent to up to one-year salary for those who have been working for the company for a long time.
