Getting the whole truth
Article Abstract:
The C-SPAN network is committed to providing wide coverage of congressional proceedings, but the Congress has enacted legislation that not only restricts what cameras installed in the house can show but also reduces C-SPAN's distribution on cable television. C-SPAN along with the major news networks are calling for rights to televise the proceedings live with their own cameras. An experiment in this regard failed due to protests from the House members. C-SPAN is now fighting in a federal suit the constitutionality of the must-carry provision in the 1992 cable law.

Article Abstract:
The American print media shows far more serious political reporting than their British counterparts. However, television coverage of politics is more serious in Britain than in the US. US congressional coverage is highly skeptical due to the negative attitude of Members of Congress towards their institution and the decline in political communication. The print media is more effective in encouraging political debate and increasing the voters' political awareness than television.
