Guardian pulls out of Connection talk
Article Abstract:
Carlton Television's scheduled debate about The Guardian's accusation regarding authenticity of its film titled The Connection was cancelled due to withdrawal of the paper's representatives. The Guardian spokesperson said changes in the format of the debate pressured them to withdraw from the debate. The allegations printed in The Guardian accused Carlton Television of not showing actual representation of what drug lord Gustavo did. Carlton Television Executive Producer Roger James said showed that Gustavo swallowed more than 20 packages of drug "fingers" and not eight as accused by The Guardian.

Richmond for English C4 regions
Article Abstract:
Channel 4 has tasked John Richmond to take on the additional job of commissioning editor for English regions apart from his current job of deputy commissioning editor for schools. The appointment reflects the station's commitment to increase production of independents outside London to 30% of total output by 2002 amidst criticisms that the program favors Ireland, Wales and Scotland. In his new assignment, Richmond will coordinate the functions of all regional indies and will act as the link between the station and the indies.
