ITV budgets 4.2 million pounds sterling to modernize Shakespeare
Article Abstract:
ITV is to grant a budget of up to 4.2 million pounds sterling per year in a project to make several modern adaptations of Shakespeare plays. The project, which is being headed by LWT controller of drama Jo Wright and writer Paula Milne, has received the long-term support of Nick Elliott, ITV network controller of drama. The modern versions of the plays are expected to contain the same style employed in the movie "Clueless," which was based on Jane Austen's "Emma." Some of the writers who are set to write adaptations of Shakespeare plays include Paula Milne, Andrew Davis and Tony Jordan.
