Monaghan completes Granada's senior team

Granada Television has hired Gary Monaghan, currently an executive producer at BBC entertainment and features, as an editor of entertainment. The appointment of Monaghan completes Granada's editorial team, which is being headed by Granada controller of entertainment Duncan Gray. Monaghan, who also worked at Planet 24 for both The Big Breakfast and The Word, will work alongside Richard Wolfe, also an editor of entertainment. His first project at Granada Television will be a post-watershed pilot for ITV, with a tentative title "TV Soup" and will be produced starting September 1998.

Walker quits Sky after six years
Article Abstract:
BSkyB's host for a travel series Walker's World, Anna Walker, has terminated her exclusive contract with the broadcaster after Sky Networks managing director Elisabeth Murdoch decided to eliminate the series. Walker, which has been with BSkyB during the last six years, is believed to have received 1.2 million pounds sterling as payment for the contract she has with BSkyB during her last three years in the company. A representative of Walker said her contract is scheduled to expire by end of 1998 and stressed that the decision was amicable.

Granada plans Stars in Their Eyes doc special and champions' final
Article Abstract:
Granada Television intends to produce two documentary about winning contestants of its Stars in Their Eyes entertainment show. The first documentary, which will run for an hour and titled Seven Days in the Life of the Live Final, will show the preparations of contestants for their final competition in June 1999. The second documentary titled Stars in Their Eyes: The Champions of Champions Final, will run for 90 minutes and will show the overall champion. The two documentaries are scheduled to be aired in the second half of 1999.
