Price is right?
Article Abstract:
UK Capital Radio station may sell its 13% stake in GWR, raising 28 million pounds sterling to help finance its expected takeover of Virgin Radio at a cost of 64.7 million pounds sterling. Other sellers in the radio market are Allied Entertainment, which is hoping to get 3 million pounds sterling for its 15% of Xfm. Inflated share prices have been helped by high growth in the radio sector, however this cannot be sustained forever. Branding of radio stations is seen as the next step to extending the market. Emap Radio will use the Kiss brand when licences for digital radio are marketed.

Border tussle
Article Abstract:
BBC Radio Scotland focuses on world news and some popular music to attract its listeners, while Scottish commercial stations cover local news and events. Although it has only 7.8% of the market, BBC Radio Scotland has a reputation for reflecting Scottish life and chooses not to play more music even though it might attract younger listeners. The commercial radio stations in Scotland have local autonomy and are able to provide relevant, local programmes which boost ratings. Moray Firth has a 27.7% share, while Clyde 1 and 2 have 24.2% and 16.3% respectively.
