The big fight over unbundling
Article Abstract:
Some industry observers have suggested the UK Independent Television Commission's (ITC) new rules stopping minimum carriage requirements, by cable and satellite operators, will lead to increased prices for customers. Others have suggested some smaller channels will be forced to close if they are unable to have guaranteed distribution. Bundling is used by television operators to sell a number of stations for one price, to customers. The ITC have claimed the practice is against competition. The Sci-Fi Channel and Flextech have taken the ITC to court to challenge their rules.

TX
Article Abstract:
Channel 4 is due to begin broadcasting 'Plant Showbiz,' an eight-week US entertainment programme produced by September Films, on Apr 30, 1997. A pilot shot in Aug 1996 was successful, but it proved necessary to find a new presenter at very short notice. It was eventually possible to appoint Mark Lamarr, host of the BBC2 pop quiz show 'NeverMind the Buzzcocks.' Problems were also caused by the fact that it proved very hard to come up with a good title for the show.
