ITV network's state of independence
Article Abstract:
The ITV PLC merger of Carlton Communications PLC and Granada PLC has led to a sustained campaign that Network Centre would lose its independence and the Granada Production would dominate the commissioning process. It is believed that there would be greater pressure to commission more shows from Granada and that ITV might eventually end up apeing the BBC's 75 percent level of in-house production.

After eight years of renting the Welsh television studio complex located on Culverhouse Cross site from United Business Media, ITV has finally bought it for 18.7 million pounds sterling.
