SGI puts back NT workstation
Article Abstract:
Silicon Graphics has delayed the launching of its Windows NT-based workstation due to an undisclosed problem found in the units from the fourth quarter of 1998 until early 1999. Industry observers speculate the problem to be either architectural or graphics-related stemming from the four Intel Xeon processors used by SGI in the workstations. Apparently, Intel has announced that its Xeon processors have some problems causing delay in production until the middle of July 1998. SGI, however, said orders are continually being accepted including from broadcasters and post production firms.

VFG alights on GBP3m Samuelson's
Article Abstract:
Samuelson's, one of the longest-existing lighting firms in the United Kingdom, will be purchased for three million pounds sterling by VFG, a video and listed-film facilities group. The proposed deal requires VFG to repay 1.7-million-pound-sterling worth of Samuelson's loans, as well as to pay Samuelson's a cash amount of 1.3 million pounds sterling. VFG's director for finance, David Stamp, asserted that the firm's planned acquisition of Samuelson's reflects its initiative to emerge as a one-stop source of production equipment.
