Tiger and TalkBack in distribution tie-up
Article Abstract:
Tiger Aspects Productions and TalkBack Productions have partnered with former Mayfair Television Entertainment executive Alison Rayson to introduce a new distributor. Rayson is to be the managing director of the yet-unnamed firm that will be based in London, UK. As with Tiger Aspects and TalkBack, Rayson is to have a stake in the new venture that will initially focus on Tiger Aspect and TalkBack's strongest areas, such as drama, entertainment and comedy. Tiger, TalkBack and Rayson's venture is slated to be launch in October 1998, but already a staff of 10 is being recruited. The outfit's initial programming slate is due to be completed by August 1998.

Root maps out future

UK broadcasting company Granada Media (GM) head of international drama Antony Root claims to be seeking a network of quality production companies which can satisfy the needs of local markets under the Granada brand name. Root joined GM in November 1997, after spending the majority of his working life involved in television production and drama. Root is charged with developing the US market, with plans to adapt UK-based programming ideas to suit American tastes.

Laurence Rees is a UK historical programme maker who has received critical acclaim for works such the BBC2 series Timewatch, which also attracted high viewing figures. His most successful series was The Nazis - A Warning from History, which won six British Television awards in 1988. Rees puts his love of historical programme making down to the ability to plan and structure a path the series should take, in the knowledge the work is based on fact.
