Wall to wall wins BBC double order

Wall to Wall Television has been asked by BBC to produce two dramas, which will generate 5.5 million British pounds sterling for the newly-independent firm. The 90-minute single drama "A Rather English Marriage" is adapted from a novel penned by Angela Lambert. Joanna Lumley, Albert Finney and Tom Courtney will star in the drama, that was adapted by Angela Lambert. The series, which will have its location at Ealing Studios, is about two old men who were brought together by the death of their wives. BBC films and single drama chief David Thompson commissioned production of the series.

BBC unveils new children's shows

BBC is unleashing a new group of children's shows, which include The Star Hill Ponies, a 13 x 10-minute animated series. The programs are set to be finished in January 1998 and will be aired first by S4C. Theresa Plummer-Andrews will also be the executive producer of Snow of Winter, a 30-minute special by Hibbert Ralph Animation. BBC will also air Gadget Boy, a 26 x 30-minute series spinoff from Inspector Gadget, aired on M5 in France, as well as Oscar's Orchestra from Tony Collingwood Productions for BBC 1.

BBC lines up Bertolucci film
Article Abstract:
BBC is slated to purchased what is considered to be Bernardo Bertolucci's first TV movie for over 20 years. The renowned director, credited for Last Tango in Paris and The Last Emperor, is filming the TV film, The Siege, a love story featuring David Thewlis and Thandie Newton. The film, is due to be completed in the autumn of 1998, will be acquired for BBC 2 with Primetime Television Associates, which will distribute the movie outside Italy, Germany and Scandanavia.
