What next for year two on C5?
Article Abstract:
Several UK television executives pointed out they were unable to receive Channel 5 (C5) on their own television sets. The UK terrestrial television station will have been in operation for one year by Apr 1998. Many of the executives suggested the station needed to improve its programming policy to encourage more viewers. C5 Director of Programmes Dawn Airey points out the station has 15% of the budget of other UK television stations. C5 Chief Executive David Elstein has been very pleased with C5 in its first year on air, particularly as they achieved their revenue goal for 1997-98.

Famous five?
Article Abstract:
Channel 5 Broadcasting (C5) will only operate in 70% of UK homes by the end of its first year and not reach 80% of households, as planned. Some industry observers suggest C5's scheduling of films and football may have encouraged viewers but only in the short term. The management of C5 had hoped to take 5% of the viewing audience but during the first nine months of operation audiences were, on average, 3.2%. It has been forecasted C5 will make about 130 million pounds sterling from advertising revenue, in 1998. C5 will have been in operation for one year on Mar. 30, 1998.
