Australia moves to get tough with poaching vessels
Article Abstract:
Australia has formulated new rules enabling the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) to place an increased range of responses against fleeing poaching vessels. The RAN, with the new rules patrolling vessels, can use escalating levels of force to board and detain suspected poachers, fire on vessels' sterns to disable their engine and steering gear and also would be equipped with non-lethal weapons such as tear-gas and distraction explosives.
