Article Abstract:
The chairman of the House Armed Services Committee has insisted that his military threat-based review is an alternative to the Department of Defense's (DOD's) capabilities-based Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR), which might be released by February 2006. Representative Duncan Hunter's (Republican-California) 'Committee Defense Review' will place Pentagon QDR into context and form educated opinions about its strengths and weaknesses.

Rising risk in air mobility
Article Abstract:
Long standing fears that the US military suffered from a serious airlift shortage were proved wrong by the findings of Pentagon's latest Mobility Capabilities Study (MCS) that indicate that there is sufficient air, sea and surface transport to meet the country's current and future needs. However, several critical factors were left out of the purview of the study and a follow-up study called MCS-6 is already under way.
