Biting the bullet: Army Guard beginning to show the strain
Article Abstract:
The Army National Guard is facing a manpower crisis as they were able to accomplish only 88 percent of their recruitment goal and were able to sign only 35,990 new members whereas the target was 41,131. The demands that Guard members have to face has caused a challenge to the recruiting and retention officials and has resulted in the state governments and governors fighting for the case of a larger guard force, which will decrease operations tempo and reduce tour lengths.
