Shielding the blue diamond: counterfire operations in the 1st Marine Division
Article Abstract:
The countless peacetime training exercises have finally paid off as the Marine artillery, aviation, sailors of blue diamond (1st Marine Division (1st MarDiv)) and sister Service fire support assets have silenced the Iraqi indirect fires capability. The in-depth understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of both the enemy's indirect fire system and the capabilities of the friendly forces has helped the army to successfully silence the Iraq's indirect fire system.
