Nakhon Phanom (NKP), a remote and austere US base in northeastern Thailand was home to the 56th Special Operations Wing that operated a mix of helicopters and airplanes including the Douglas A-1 skyraider. A tale of heroism involving Lt. Col William A Jones, III emerges from that war theatre of the 1960s.

The heritage of the Force

The Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio is the oldest and largest military museum, and houses both modern and historic airplanes and missiles. On display are nine presidential aircraft, an SR-71 spyplane, a stealth fighter and a Wright Military Flyer.
