India's defence budget blinkers
Article Abstract:
The 2005-06 defense budget of India was increased by the Indian Government to Rs. 83 billion, which is a 7.8 percent rise over the defense budget of 2004-05. Considering the various trends and the current environment, future requirements, long-term military modernization plans and India's growing security interests, it is necessary to increase the defense spending to approximately 2.7 percent of the GDP.
