Making C2 work as one
Article Abstract:
The Joint Battle Management Command and Control (JBMC2) program aims for complete interoperability among the dozens of tactical C2 systems fielded by the US military forces, allowing each to access data captured in others and minimizing service-unique variances. JBMC2 program is useful for the Department of Defense's (DOD's) network-centric and transformational efforts as it combines both the technological and organizational aspects of netcentricity.

Jitters over JTRS: Delays, cost overruns leave radio program on shaky ground
Article Abstract:
Pentagon's ambitious effort to replace dozens of disparate radios with a single system that would allow air, land and sea units to communicate seamlessly will have to be put off due to the rising costs, technical hurdles and wartime needs. The renovated Joint Tactical Radio System program (JTRS) is likely to switch its focus from legacy radio replacement to early delivery of interoperable systems using existing technologies.

DOD backs common satellite platform
Article Abstract:
The Pentagon's Office of Force Transformation wants to develop a common spacecraft frame that might someday be mass-produced to reduce the cost of proposed approach to battlefield reconnaissance like the building and storing imaging satellites until commanders need them. The common satellite platform or bus could fly in space for the first time as the backbone of an experimental imaging spacecraft called TacSat 3.
