Orion: the hunter, at close quarters
Article Abstract:
The P-3 Orion anti-submarine warfare and surveillance patrol aircraft will undergo a reengineering and modification program to enhance its warfighting and peacekeeping role. The aircraft will be fitted with chaffs, flare dispensers, jammers, electronic warning systems and new sensors and weapons that will improve its survivavility during conflicts. The program will also include changes to its airframe components, notably the wing, empennage and control cables.

F/A-18E/F Super Hornet enters OPEVAL phase
Article Abstract:
The US Navy is currently conducting flight tests of Boeing Co's F/A-18F Super Hornet under simulated but realistic combant conditions. The tests called the "initial Operational Test and Evaluation" are aimed to determine the fighter's performance in the hands of typical Navy and Marine Corps fliers and technicians. Boeing will built 62 Super Hornets for the US Navy inder low-rate initial production contract.
