Port and maritime security: Background and issues
Article Abstract:
Port and maritime security has emerged as major part of the homeland security since the attacks of September 11, 200, as government leaders and security experts are worried that the maritime transportation system could be used by terrorists in various ways, that could not only cause damages locally, but also paralyze global maritime commerce. They believe that tightening control over maritime commerce requires that security be 'embedded' into everyday business processes.
