Refit for Chilean patrol boats
Article Abstract:
MTU Friedrichshafen is supplying the Armada de Chile's five patrol boats with new propulsion and control systems. Two 58m 'Saar 4' and three 47m S 148 class vessels will get four 16V 396 engines each and the MCS-5 monitoring and control system. the 396 is claimed to provide the best power/weight and power/volume ratios in its power range which the Armada de Chile is bound to nee with over 2,500 mi of coastline to patrol.

Intelligence services and defense planners have long predicted that terrorist would attack using toxic weapons, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). One of the basic reasons the terrorists continue to bomb conventionally is due the creation, storage, transportation, and detonation of a WMD device form a complex process, and one that is potentially lethal to the user.
