Article Abstract:
General Mihail Eugeniu, Chief-of-Staff of the Romanian Land Forces, said peace support and humanitarian operations would comprise the future operational missions of Western armies. Popescu added that these armies should be structured on a modular basis and equipped with highly- deployable equipment and should be able to operate under a broad range of field conditions. He pointed out that the Romania Army has gained a lot of experience in multinational operations due to its participation in Somalia, Kosova, Bosnia and the Persian Gulf.

Div Gen Ing Ion Dan Zaharia, Romania's Secretary of State for Armed Forces Procurement, said the country's military procurement system is based on a unique and integrated system for acquisition management. The system contains integrated instructions, procedures and compatible standards for the management of programs and projects based on acquisition categories. Zaharia added that the correct procurement strategy is established through the right combination of imports and developments from domestic research.
