The jacks of many trades
Article Abstract:
A review of different designs and configurations of military helicopters is presented. Due to their difficult operating conditions, equipment such as hinges and handles should be strengthened while armor plates and self- sealing tanks should be added. The additional features result in weight penalties which are not acceptable in commercial applications. Among the various designs described are Eurocopter Lightweights, A109M, Bell 427 and OH-58d, Panther, Lynx and Bell 412.

Avionics and armament
Article Abstract:
Avionics equipment for helicopters are ultimately chosen for safe nap-of- the-earth operations whether by day or night in all weather conditions. Currently, the trend is for armament to have a fire-and-forget capability in a pop-up attack against tanks. A review of avionics equipment and armaments for helicopters is presented. The equipment described are helmet-mounted displays, sensors, guns, ground attack missiles, air-to-air missiles and anti-ship missiles.
