Three options for change for the Navy's surface force
Article Abstract:
The U.S. Navy is trying to modernize its surface combatant force by retiring one class of destroyers, by modernizing its cruisers and frigates and by introducing three new classes of surface combatants. Navy's plan for new generation of warships would provide the most capable and balanced force of surface combatants, and with some alternatives, a large number of next generation ships that would provide rapid acceleration to a new Navy.

Navy strives for eight carrier battle groups ready to roll
Article Abstract:
The Navy is restructuring its fleet to provide surge capability and eight carrier battle groups that are ready to toll. The restructuring of maintenance and deployment processes in the form of increased sea days for major platforms helps in improving the return on investment, and more flexible Marine Corps will be able to adopt quickly to the changing conditions on the battlefield.
