When the U-2 went to sea
Article Abstract:
Logistical considerations required the operation of the U-2 spy plane from aircraft carriers during some of its 44 years of Central Intelligence Agency and Air Force service. The carrier and naval aspects of U-2 history are reviewed.

The combination of two revolutionary weapons the airplane and submarines took place during World War I. Between the world wars countries like France, Japan and the United States pursued the submarine-aircraft combinations.
