Amdocs reaches deal to buy Architel
Article Abstract:
Amdocs Ltd of St Louis, MO, will acquire telecommunications system maker Architel System Corp of Toronto, Ontario, for about $330 million in stock. Amdocs will pay 0.95 of its share for every Architel share, or around $21.08 per share ($32.04). The bid price is about 34% higher than Architel's closing price of C$23.90 per share on Mar 2, 1999. The deal would create an entity with a revenue of $430 million and 3,600 employees.

Microsoft clamping down on e-mail viruses
Article Abstract:
Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft Corp. has developed an e-mail system that is designed to protect computer files from electronic viruses. Microsoft will include the system in the next version of its Outlook e-mail software program.
