Bell sales taper; BCE profit rises

Michael Sabia, the president and chief executive officer of Toronto, Ont.-based BCE Inc., reported that Bell Canada had a one-percent drop in sales. Bell Canada, the largest telephone company in Canada, reported sales of $4.26 billion for the first quarter ended March 31, 2003.
