Big overhaul at OMERS: Buys out Borealis, shifts investment from stocks, bonds

The Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement Board (OMERS) is undertaking many changes to its investment strategy and helping out the Borealis Capital Corp., a Toronto-based investment company to manage about $9-billion of the pension fund's assets. The shift was required to better locate the needs of the pension fund with its investments and it was part of long-term strategy designed to fund the pensions of members who are new to work.
