Canadian drafting proposals to reshape airline

Canadian Airlines International Ltd will draft restructuring plans that may involve negotiations with potential investors and other airlines. The restructuring plan may include divestments of route rights or regional operations, elimination of unprofitable rights or an allaince with Air Canada in some cases to reduce costly competition. The carrier needs some C$300 million to C$500 million to take it through the traditionally lean winter season.

WestJest targets business travellers

Regional carrier WestJet Airlines Ltd of Calgary, Alberta, has launched a new program called AirBiz for business travellers on is Calgary to Edmonton route. The new budget service will offer few of the privileges given to business travellers such as frequent-flier points, bigger seats or better meals. WestJest has added three daily flights to boost the number of flights on the Calgary-Edmonton route to 11.

WestJet head hails airline hearings
