The feel-good elections
Article Abstract:
An apparently massive groundswell of voter optimism and contentment about the US, its political process, the national economy and future prospects is the dominating theme in the 2000 national elections. However, American sentiment about their prosperity and future opportunities is translating into a strong vote of confidence for George Bush, Jr., rather than Vice Pres Albert Gore. Yet Gore can offset what he lacks in personality with winning issues regarding domestic priorities, such as health care and anti-poverty, that voters believe have been neglected in the existing economic boom.
