Merger fulfills needs of each
Article Abstract:
The consolidation of Internet service provider America Online Inc (AOL) and media giant Time Warner Inc, through the former's $160-billion-in- stock buyout of the latter, is deemed by many as mutually beneficial to both companies. Time Warner will have an easier time in using the Internet as a medium of distribution for its movies, television programs, cable service and magazines. On the other hand, AOL can use Time Warner's clout in news and entertainment in promoting its online service.
