Combating addiction: Current situations: Recovering advocates
Article Abstract:
The Congress, as well as many other grassroots organizations and federal lawmakers are taking various measures to improve the insurance coverage for the treatment of substance-addiction, as well as to provide benefits to addicts convicted of drug crimes. Organizations are hence trying to convince lawmakers and advocates to promote such laws for the benefits of substance abusers, as banning them from various federal advantages will not make much of a difference.

Combating addiction: Insurance parity
Article Abstract:
The Congress is expected to pass a legislation, which includes several health-insurance plans that will ensure the coverage of mental-health services and substance-abuse treatment in the insurance policies like any other health care by the employers. The federal bill will allow states to enact stronger coverage parity by providing treatment for any addiction, though it is feared that it might also set back efforts to get coverage for mental illness.
