Waiting to explode
Article Abstract:
Aaron King, a former infantryman at 1st Battalion Royal Australian Regiment, Townsville, states he has had enough of a military system that brutalized him when he was ill and failed to look after him when he was medically discharged with severe post-traumatic stress disorder after serving in East Timor from 2000 to 2001. King repeatedly tried suicide, and eventually threatened his Melbourne neighborhood with two live hand grenades before being imprisoned.

The smoking gun
Article Abstract:
Private Jacob Bruce Kovco is the first Australian serviceman to die on April 21, 2006, in Iraq after being shot with his own weapon in mysterious circumstances. His violent death has ignited a series of event that could devastate his wife and his parents and might prompt claims of a cover-up, highlighting the time-honored instinct of Australia's military officials to conceal and close ranks when the simple truth would be far less complicated.
